Nunavut's employment standards don't require a day off or holiday pay for it. Some employers give it anyway; check your contract or collective agreement.
Federally regulated workers
Family Day isn't one of the 10 general holidays under the Canada Labour Code, so federally regulated employers such as banks and Canada Post don't have to give it.
Store closing rules
2027No closing law
It isn't a retail closing day in Nunavut, so stores may open and set their own hours.
Tip: This is a plain-language summary, not legal advice. Some industries and collective agreements have special rules; if in doubt, check the official source or your province's employment standards office.
